Hey! I’m Sarah Muoio, a proud working mom with a 4-year-old gentleman and an ultra bad-ass husband. I’m a coffee junkie, I live for late evenings on my beach and music is my soul food. (I wanted to be Billy Joel when I grew up…and my dreams were crushed when I learned that wasn’t possible)
When it comes to parenting, there seems to be this idea floating around that we all need to do everything right. Want the truth? It’s NOT POSSIBLE!
I thought this journey of motherhood would go exactly as I planned until everything changed. When my son was diagnosed with a brain tumor, I found my life’s biggest blessing. Ok..ok…you’re thinking I’m a crazy lady right now, but hear me out! After he SURVIVED (YES, it still feels so amazing to say that) his tumor, AND a stroke, AND was diagnosed with epilepsy, I truly started to live my life. And, yes, it took me all those tries. I’m sure I’ll need some more re-do’s along our journey as well.
I learned to embrace the chaos, to sit in the struggle, and to love each moment for exactly what it is. Is this all overwhelming sometimes? Heck yeah! But EVERY. SINGLE. terrible moment has unmasked a new lesson…a new beauty in life…a new blessing I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for this journey. Do I want this for my son and my family? NO! Can I change it? Also, NO! So, we’ve learned to find laughter, meaning, love, and purpose in it all.
Some Days You Just Have to Create Your Own Sunshine
I’ve learned so much sitting inside the dark walls of hospital rooms and doctors’ offices, and in the ups and downs of our life outside. The three biggest lessons that have changed my life, I hope others can share with me.
- Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.
- The mountains on which we stand in accomplishment are built on the failures and struggles we’ve overcome.
- Cherish life’s simple pleasures.
I’ve had a passion for writing since I was a kid. I’m lucky to have had my passion turn into a career as a writer. But…I’ve also worked very hard to get here. While I’ve created endless amounts of content on hundreds of different topics, nothing brings me a bigger sense of accomplishment than writing about my life as the proud mom of a brave and strong warrior boy named Anthony.
Welcome to our life! Sit back and enjoy the ride!
